At the Karfeld Law Firm, P.C., we represent businesses and individuals throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area in bankruptcy and collection. We are dedicated to providing every client responsive legal counsel with a high level of personal attention. We handle a wide range of collections and bankruptcy issues, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13 and Chapter 9 proceedings. We represent creditors as well as debtors.
Attorney Edward J. Karfeld has handled bankruptcy and collections matters for individuals and businesses in the St. Louis metropolitan area since 1971. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1970. After discharge from military service, Mr. Karfeld worked for a bankruptcy trustee in St. Louis for two years before opening his own firm. For nine years, he also served as a bankruptcy trustee for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases.
Mr. Karfeld is admitted to practice in the state courts of Missouri and Illinois, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri and the Southern District of Illinois, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8 th Circuit.
A member of the Missouri Bar, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and a former co-chair of the Bankruptcy Committee of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, Mr. Karfeld is also certified as a mediator. In addition to his lectures and publications on various bankruptcy and collections topics, he has served on the faculty at Webster University, teaching courses on ethical and legal issues in management for MBA candidates. Mr. Karfeld is a volunteer judge for the intra-mural client counseling and negotiation competition at Washington University Law School.
Attorney Donna Karfeld joined the firm in 1991 and practices exclusively in the area of collections. She is admitted to practice in the state courts of Missouri.
